About Michelle
With a formal education in art and design, I have always found myself creating and designing something—printed material, fabrics, weddings, special events, advertising and corporate exhibits. Working for a major Washington D.C. department store in both their Fashion and Visual Merchandising departments, I found an exciting fit—I could transform the entire store to reflect any theme desired from florals to contemporary, abstracts to traditional, in order to stimulate sales!
Having lived overseas and traveled extensively, I have absorbed the intricacies of a wide variety of cultures. A sense of space, the flow of a room, and overall aesthetics have become second nature to me.
My goal as a Residential Stager is to look at your home with a fresh set of eyes. By editing items, I create coordinated and seamless spaces which enables buyers to visualize what their OWN furnishings could look like within the home. Statistics show that 90% of potential buyers cannot “see” their personal belongings in a house, unless it has been staged. The goal is to ATTRACT the maximum number of clients and SELL for the top price!
My process is simple: After the initial walk-through, I discuss my impressions (both inside and out) with the owners, inquiring about irreplaceable items and family heirlooms (paintings, artifacts, books, etc.). Then I compile a list of items that I feel need editing. At this point, the Client can choose to make these modifications themselves or, alternatively, I can assist them. I always use as much of the Client’s personal furnishings as possible. Usually it is necessary to make a few purchases, but I refrain from costly expenditures, such as purchasing new furniture.
My goal is to present the Client’s home in the best possible light, so that it sells for the highest price in the shortest amount of time.
As my Mother used to say, “You only get ONE chance to make a first impression!”.
